נטע אלקיים ועמית חי כהן צמחו מתוך אותו פיצול אישיות תרבותי המאפיין כל כך הרבה יוצרים בארץ: הצורך להיות ישראלים לחלוטין מבחוץ, והכמיהה העמוקה להתחבר למסורת המשפחתית, הזרה, מבפנים. בני הזוג אלקיים וכהן יוצרים, מעבדים, חוקרים ומבצעים יחד מוזיקה מרוקאית מסורתית, כמו זו שהסבתות שלהן היו שרות, כמו זו שהם פוגשים בכל פעם שהם נוסעים למרוקו כדי למצוא שבבים נוספים של זהותם.

הבמאי כמאל השכאר מלווה אותם במסע מוזיקלי אינטנסיבי במרוקו, שבו הם גם מתחקים אחר שורשי משפחותיהם. הם פוגשים מוזיקאים, פקידי ממשל, שכנים לשעבר וילדים בקצוות הנידחים של הארץ, ותוהים מה נדרש כדי לאחות את חלקיה השונים של זהותם.

היוצרים נטע אלקיים ועמית חי כהן, שהופיעו בשנים האחרונות על הבמות הנחשבות ביותר על ציר ירושלים-מרוקו, מגיעים למפגש דואו אינטימי בספרייה הלאומית, שם ישתפו בחוויות שמאחורי הסרט ״בעיניך אני רואה את ארצי״, בו תיעד הבמאי המרוקאי כמאל האשכר את מסעם המוזיקלי והאישי במרוקו מתחילת דרכם. הם יבצעו עיבודים אינטימים ליצירות מתוך פרוייקטים שהפיקו בשנים האחרונות, ביניהם: ״תהילה לדוד - דואו אלקטרוני לדוד בן חסין״ ״אביאדי - מחווה לזהרה אלפסיה״ ו״ארנאס״ המופע הנוכחי שלהם, שנוצר בהשראת חומרים ארכיונים שמצאו בספרייה הלאומית.

Neta Elkayam and Amit Haï Cohen are the products of a cultural duality so very common among Israeli artists: the need to maintain a quintessentially Israeli facade, and the deep yearning to reconnect with their foreign roots and family traditions. Elkayam and Cohen make, mix, study and perform traditional Moroccan music, the kind their grandmothers used to sing, the kind they hear every time they go to Morocco to find more fragments of their identity.

Director Kamal Hachkar follows the couple as they embark on an intense musical journey through Morocco in an attempt to trace their roots. They meet musicians, government officials, former neighbors, and children in the remote reaches of the country, wondering what it would take to mend their fragmented identities.

The creators Neta Elkayam and Amit Hai Cohen, who have in recent years appeared on the biggest stages between Jerusalem and Morocco, visit the National Library of Israel for an intimate duo meeting, where they will share the experiences behind the film In Your Eyes, I See My Country, in which the Moroccan filmmaker Kamal Hachkar recorded their musical and personal journey in Morocco since their early days. They will perform intimate arrangements of pieces from recent projects, including: “Tehilla le-David, an electronic tribute to David Hassin”, “Abiadi, a tribute to Zohra Al Fassiya”, and “Arénas”, their current show, inspired by archival materials they found at the National Library.
